Sustainable farming, Prosperous farmers

Krishak Panchayat is a village level farmers' group meant for collective decision making
and action towards low external input sustainable agriculture. It is a change vehicle in our context. It provides a platform to marginal men and women farmers to

(a) share their experience, difficulties and learn from each other and

(b) collective decision making which was in the past very much a part of the village culture but which has declined with onset of market oriented agriculture. Krishak Panchayat provides for collection and dissemination of traditional knowledge of farmers. This network is currently spread over 11 villages with 282 member farmers. An outlet of organic farm produce (with national certification) is also run by the farmers' collective.
